Mark your calendars for our upcoming meetings. Each meeting starts with a social in the cafeteria, then in the Tech Learning Center we cover the topic, followed by a brief business meeting.  Anyone is welcome, bring your friends! Register at the front desk or call (203) 847-3115.

Meetings and club membership is free!

Thursday, February 20th, 1-3 pm.

Desktop Software For You

Two popular desktop/laptop systems for Windows and Macs will be discussed. The session will help grandparents and others decide how to build and maintain their family trees and what software to bequeath to their heir or heirs.  The focus will include:

    The user interface
    Displaying and printing capabilities
Transferring and syncing to other systems

The focus will be on Roots Magic and Family Tree Maker 2019. Desktop systems are not cloud-based systems like Ancestry.com. Sara Zagrodzky and Chris Ruthman will lead the demo and discussion.

Thursday, March 19th, 1-3 pm.

Spring to Action with a Family Story

Thursday, March 19th, 1-3 pm.

Spring to Action with a Family Story (Our meeting is on the first day of Spring)  We are looking for volunteers;  see below for details.
Member volunteers will share stories about their family histories.

How it will work:
    Each storyteller has 10 minutes
Each must introduce their story with a date, place, and family relationship
4-6 volunteers will be chosen to fill the meeting-time
Humor, fun, emotion, mystery, love and pride are encouraged.

Share the traits that were handed down through your lineage. If there is enough time, we may also discuss the process and tools useful for creating stories.

******* Details for Telling Your Story********

Your presentation will be as casual or formal as you wish. So, props, notes, and slides are ok. Please contact Sara, Mary, or Jonathan to be included. Your story can have a happy, neutral, or sad ending, or no ending as in “brick wall.” This means you don't know what research to do next, and perhaps others have suggestions for you. Plan to talk about 10 minutes.
